Going Abroad? How To Make Sure The Villa You Rent Is The Right Choice
When you’re looking to book the perfect holiday villa for your summer holidays, you want to be sure you’re picking the right choice for you and your family. The annual summer holiday is a big event and where you rest your head after a long, fun day on the beach is really important, so it needs to be absolutely perfect.
Here are some tops tips to make sure the villa you rent is the right choice:
Everyone Has A Budget
As with any type of accommodation, prices will vary from basic, clean, budget types at the lower end of the price scale, to luxury, all mod con types at the higher end. Before you start looking and getting tempted by the higher priced options, set your budget for the entire holiday. Factor in spending money, travel (including transfers), food and so on. Then work out how much everything will cost within that budget, including your accommodation. Remember your villa will more than likely be rented out a week at a time and the price you pay will be for the entire villa, not per person. So remember to look for villas that sleep the amount of people in your holiday party, or you could end up paying more for a bigger place that sleeps more people when you don’t need to.
Location, Location, Location
Where do you fancy going? There are villas all over the world, but most commonly in Europe. Do you fancy a refined weekend in The Algarve? Or an action packed weekend in the South of France? Once you know where you want to go, you need to refine your search based on your needs. So perhaps you want to be beachside, or you would rather be based within a short walk of the local town. Think about the practicalities of your desired location as well. Would a villa near other villas be private enough for you? Would a villa based where you have to drive to get to and from local facilities be practical for you?
Choosing The Right Holiday Type
What type of holiday do you fancy? Are you going to be out and about all the time spending minimal time in the villa? Are you going to be making lots of meals in the villa in between trips out to the beach? When you know what type of holiday you’re planning on having, you should have an idea of what you need out of your villa. Write a list of features you need and features you would like. Remember to stay flexible when you browse as you may have to make some compromises.
Get The Basics Sorted
When you select a villa that ‘sleeps six’ check what the sleeping arrangements are. The villa could have a double bedroom, a twin and a sofa bed – is that right for everyone that’s going?
Is A Pool Important?
Most villas have a pool or access to a pool, and it’s certainly a highlight of renting a villa, but what do you want out of your pool? If you’re taking young children is the pool safe? Does heating for the pool cost extra? Do you want to share a pool with other people?
What About Eating?
If you’re going to be eating out most of the time, the kitchen facilities aren’t that important. However, if you’re going to be cooking up a storm in your villa most days, you want to make sure it’s big enough and well equipped enough to cater for your needs.
These are just a few of the key things to consider when choosing the right villa. Remember it’s your holiday – your choice. Happy browsing!
