Kas really is a stunning place to have a holiday, and for those that try it for the first time are guaranteed to return many times for future holidays, with many of our clients repeat visitors to Kas.
So, here are just 7 reasons why we believe that a holiday in Kas is perfect for your family and why when you are booking your next couple of weeks away from home, you really shouldn’t overlook what Kas has to offer.
Quiet And Friendly
A quiet, pleasant, relaxing and beautiful town, with a stunning blue sea and charming houses and hotels that are just waiting for you to touch down and begin your holiday. Everyone is friendly, and whilst you might hear this about any holiday resort, it really is true in the case of Kas, with the local residents ready to welcome all visitors with open arms. You will feel welcome and you will feel a part of the town and you will fit into the daily routine very quickly, as you have a bite to eat and a drink or two overlooking the stunning sea and taking in the views of the local mountain ranges, with noise to a minimum and the sounds of a natural environment taking over your mind as you relax.
2 Serving Airports
Location is usually pretty important when going on holiday and Kas is served by two airports, Antalya and Dalaman, with recent rumours of a third airport to be built that will bring Kas even closer to other countries in terms of travelling distance. Many of the UK airports fly to Turkey throughout the day, with most offering return flights pretty much every day of the week, so getting to Kas really is no issue from the UK or indeed most other established European countries.
Virtually Untouched
Kas used to be a small fishing town that relied on the sea to fund its local economy, and whilst fishing is still important to the local community, tourism is now the main source of income like so many other holiday resorts across the country. The holiday season brings Kas alive, but it has never lost is traditional and quaint feeling that will astound you when you first visit, but will live with you long after you have left. The town is stunningly beautiful and offers so much real charm that you could be mistaken for thinking a tourist has never even set foot in the area, but despite more and more people starting to holiday in Kas, it has never lost the true look and feel of a small Turkish town.
Marinas And Water Sports
Kas used to be a small fishing town as we mentioned previously, but now alongside the fishing it is also home to boating, yachting and diving, with the blue sea the perfect venue to spend hours exploring and simply enjoying all that the coastal areas of Kas are proud to offer. It has 2 marinas that are packed full of things to do, with diving one of the key attractions for those that want to get closer to the sea life and see what is swimming around and frequenting the area. There are many private charter firms and boat hire companies as well, so if your fancy a spot of fishing, a day diving or a couple of days on a yacht, Kas makes this possible and very affordable as well.
Shopping And Leisure
If a proportion of your holiday requires excellent restaurants, bars, and antique, jewellery, carpet and designer clothes shops, and let’s be honest, who’s holiday doesn’t, then Kas has all of this plus a whole lot more. From buying locally made crafted products through to designer items that you might not be able to find in many other places at Kas prices, there is a lot to explore as you walk through the town, and the fact that you can dine on a wide range of cuisines and enjoy many types of drinks, a day out in Kas will be a day out that you will want to repeat again and again, as with so many shops to look in and so many places to take care of your hunger, it would be rude not to!
Historic Attractions
Built on the ancient site of Antiphellos, it is no surprise that Kas offers as much history as it does present day attractions, with the famous harbour and many historic buildings and attractions that will inspire you to learn more about this area. If you look to the skies just above Kas, then you will see the renowned Lycian rock tombs that are placed in the mountain wall and when looking at night they come to life as they are illuminated for all to see in their current splendour. The streets are narrow and cobbled like the day they were built, some of the buildings have not changed and above all, the town keeps its sense of history, being proud of its past but also very excited about the future.
The Perfect Base
Kas is ideally located if you want to explore this area of Turkey, with plenty to see and do in the local and surrounding areas, which makes Kas the perfect place to lay your hat whilst you stay in Turkey but yet still get to see so many other places. You can even hop on a Ferry and go and explore the Greek island of Kastelórizo if you really wanted to go a bit further afield, or you could hire a car and head down to the coast and explore all of the areas that surround Kas. With many holiday villas, hotels and guest houses, if you do want to make Kas your basecamp for exploring this area of Turkey then you will be spoilt for choice, as there are plenty of places to stay that will suit all party numbers and of course budgets.
