Meis , Kastelorizo

This is the  current official name in Greek is Μεγ?στη/Megisti; (Turkish: Meis , Italian: Castelrosso), is a small Greek island located in the Eastern Mediterranean, a short boat ride of approximately 1/2hour from Kas. The ferry leaves everyday at around 10.00hrs , returning to Kas around 16.30hrs. A picturesque island to visit, a trip to Mesi is a perfect outing from Kas. After exploring this tiny Island why not relax and admire the fantastic views whilst enjoying a meal and a few drinks at one of the many tavernas, finishing your day out with a trip to the duty free.

Located approxmately,1300 metres off the south coast of Turkey, Meis is approximately about 110 km east of Rhodes, almost halfway between Rhodes and Antalya. Ironically,  although Just 4 square miles (10 km²)  the name Megisti translates as biggest, the name, however, refers to the fact that it is the biggest of the small archipelago.

Cooking in Kas

Making Mezes easy.

The classes held on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s In cottage house in Pinarbasi village. customers are picked up from and droped from their villas.

They start cooking our selection of Mezes with their Turkish cook demonstrating at 10am and usually about 12:30pm.

Guests sit down to eat them for lunch accompanied with a glass of wine.

The stadium at Arycanda

The stadium at Arycanda The ancient site of the Lycian city of Arycanda, which located about an 1/2 drive up the the hills above Finike is an absolute must see activity. This a very large site, which visited out of season is bliss and free of virtually any tourists, Journey time to the site about 2-2.5hrs from Kas.

Arycanda is one of the least known of Turkey’s ancient cities, stunningly located over looking a plunging valley sprinkled with wild flowers and surrounded by snow capped peaks in sping.

The site is complete with a Byzntium basilica, and odean,theatre,stadium and agora, bath house, gymnasium and much more dating back to the 1st-2nd century AD. The site is located  on the Elmali road, approximatimately 1/2 drive from Finike and although the whole journey will take you about 1-2.5hrs it should not be missed.

Akcagerme beach club

5 km west of Kas on the Kalkan road you will find the Akcagerme beach club with restaurant and bar. Run by the students from the tourist school.

The shingle beach is just outside Kas Marina and facilities include sun beds and umbrellas (small charge) a swimming pontoon with protected safe swimming and a children’s water park area with slides. Much nearer than Kalkan, you can get a dolmus there, further on there is Kapitas beach with white sand, but there are loads of steps and no restaurant or facilities..This beach also has swimming pool.
