Local beaches
The Kas and Kalkan region have a varied selection of both sandy, pebble & shingle beaches and many swimming platforms. There is a child safe swimming beach just close to Gokseki – on the road between Kalkan & Kas. The Peninsula has several small shingle beaches with crystal clear water and many swimming platforms, Beaches on the lagoon side of Kas have warmer water. Kas has two main beaches - Big Pebble Beach and Little Pebble Beach plus many swimming platforms. Alternatively the lovely LimanagziBeach complete with restaurant and facilities can be reached by water taxi. They leave Kas regularly throughout the day. It takes about 10 minutes and costs around 50p.
If you prefer a sandy beach, then take a dolmus or drive to the dramatic gorge of Kaputas. It is only 20 minutes away reached by the stunning coastal road from Kalkan to Kas/ (the nearest town to Kas). Kas is an attractive town and resort with 2 marinas, many excellent bars & restaurants and well worth a visit.
A bit further away is the famous world heritage site of PataraBeach- Turkey's longest sandy beach stretching 18km. It is also the breeding ground of the delightful Caretta-Caretta sea turtles. Visit the ruins of ancient civilisations as you travel to the beach. There only one small beach bar, so please take plenty of drinks, sun cream and a sun shade if possible. Demre has 2 beaches, both very long 1 sandy beach & 1 pebble beach that are about 40 minutes drive from the Villa in the direction of Antalya.
